What we gaze upon creates our desires. In our series Doorways, I taught on the doorway of the Eyes on Sunday. Temptation through our eyes happened at the beginning of humanity, as Satan tempted Eve through her eyes (Genesis 3:1-7).
The eyes are the entry point to your desire. The eyes create. They create ideas, desires, suspicions, justification, opportunities, excuses, options, jealousies, offenses, belief systems, lust, opportunities to steal, opportunities to cheat and opportunities to bless.
The eyes are the window to the soul.
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world— the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world . . . – I John 2:15-16 (ESV)
This is especially true in the area of lust. We live in a generation where lust is not just accepted, it’s celebrated. Pornography is not just an option, it’s readily accessible.
That’s why I am excited about the first steps we are taking to help our men. We are trying to cultivate relationships that will spring into more accountability.
How are we doing this for men?
– Men’s Bible study every Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m.
– A monthly men’s fellowship the fourth Saturday of the month (7:00 a.m.)
– The next Men’s Night on Saturday, April 16th (6:00 p.m.) will deal directly with the issue of pornography.
However, lust is not just a male problem. How do I know? I’ll write about that later this week.
Funny, Margie!
One word *Twilight* Thats how you know its not just a male problem! LOL!
